How are your roads?

Been mostly ice and very slippery from central Louisiana near Pineville to Jackson Ms. Lots of this out there!

This is in Jackson Ms and those trucks are just stuck on the ice.

Think I'll spend the night here.

Interesting marks on the road with that camper facing the wrong way. Do the hwy. depts. salt roads down there? We get plenty of it up here in the Midwest : (

Not much salt, saw one truck salting the bridge across the Mississippi river between La and Ms which was totally iced and wet so incredibly slippery. I had trouble just keeping moving on it. Same as I came into Jackson, had a hard time even holding speed on any hill. Was glad I still have my volvo as this is where it really shines, a heavy load helps too.

We got about 7" inches here yesterday and last night - Wolf Creek and Monarch passes were closed yesterday. Only got to 27 today so the roads are still snow packed except for the highway and downtown, where they brined them.

Roads are closed around here. Alot of the
EMA's around here have issued a civil
emergency. The news is reporting several
accidents on I20. So be careful coming
through Alabama. People don't know what to
do when it gets icey. It's like they lose
all common sense. I'm around Oxford/
Anniston area between Birmingham and
Atlanta.

A note from the Home latitude -5 going to -10 too cold to snow, and still 6" on the ground roads dryish with icy spots. Looks to be the same all next week (except more snow) Kinda normal. Jim

You don't want to hear about the roads here in AZ! Dry and bumpy! Back in MN, our son just drove from International Falls to Duluth with no
problems. We very seldom had any problems driving in the winter, too cold to be slippery!

Dallas was a mess today, worse to the north.

But all the precip is gone, should dry up over night. Maybe some slick bridges though. Cold!

Here in southeastern, VA, we're waiting on a snow storm (9:30 P.M.) as I write this). The media's
in it's Storm Mode, got gas for the generator and hope we don't get the 10-12" they're predicting!
Folks around here can't drive on a bright, clear day. We don't have the snow removal equipment here
the northern folks do. Hope for the best, expect the worst! Good luck on the way to Dallas and with
your "new/used new" truck!!

CDB came to mind when I read your first paragraph."Takin' a trip out to LA...."" last thing I wanted to do was get in a fight in Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night."
They were spotty to fair earlier in the week. The highways were good but the CSAH's were not. Yesterday they were still out sanding and last night was better.

I-20 through Alabama is gonna be nasty in the am. It's icy and cold. Hope sun shines and melts it. Good luck coming through and be safe.

The ice line is just north of us up around the Mississippi Louisiana line so we are wet and cold just south of I 12.
We do not salt or plow the roads in south Louisiana.
If the bridges start to ice over on the interstate they close the road.
If the bridges start to ice on the state highways they put sand on the bridge.

Our last good snow was 8 years ago. Was about 4 inches.
Everyone just stayed home that day and by the next day the sun had melted it off the road.

It was been a year ago Dec 26th since we had the blizzard here and I slipped on the ice and messed up my left shoulder. It still doesn't work good but it works. Anyway we had about 3 inches of snow this morning, roads are slick in spots.

That's us here in N. TX. ⅛" of glaze ice shuts us down. We had 0.1" of SNOW at DFW airport recorded but on bridges especially, with the
traffic, the snow turned into slush and the low temps froze it. Did have the sand/salt trucks out on the bridges. City of Dallas said they had 100
trucks on the road.
