A bit of video from my drive to the car show back in August with the 52 Merc. With apologies to Alan Jackson for using his music as sound track. But I'm not making a cent off these videos. Its just for entertainment.

Good looking truck you have there. It would be a long drive to Dysart at 40 mph. I was hitting 50 with the Merc and plenty of room left for more but with well worn tires on gravel I wasn't going to push it too hard.

Buddy of mine has a 56 Montclair identical to the one in the video....and my Nova is the same colour as your Chevy ll, but a bit newer. Nice video, thanks. Ben

That Montclair was all original according to the owner/driver. Here is a closer look at it.

Thanks for the ride. My brotherinlaw had a 56 like the one at the show back in the 60s it was orange and black with a 312 engine. I do not remember many 49 to 54 mercury's around when I was growing up, but there were lots of Fords of that year. They used to say a 100 mph was easy for the flat head 239.

Ha! That was great, Rusty. Looked like some nice vehicles there that day. Do they have that every year at Dysart?
You bet they do Jim. I've been taking the Chevy II for several years but this was the first time I had the Merc there as well. I think there were over 30 cars showed up including this pair of Edsels.

The Mercury (and the top of the line Meteors) had the big 255 flathead. According to motor trend road tests in 1952 the Mercs topped out somewhere in the 90s . O to 60 in about 21 seconds. I have not done a real timed test yet but did record about 15 miles per gallon on the trip to town and back.

If you think about it next year let me know when it's coming up, maybe I'll drive up there.

Will do. I think some years they had some of the Regina antique auto club there.
