I looked at all the options that were posted or emailed to me by various folk here and much appreciated. Tried to make the Jenny brand work but if I could find one for a low price, the folks would not ship or shipping was extra or...always a problem. The brand that was emailed to me, forgot the name, same deal. Just not what I wanted for the price I could justify right now. It is just plain bad luck to have a lot of things break down in the same year you make a balloon payment on your land contract! So here is the winner AND a picture of the old Senco compressor.
I decided to go with a reconditioned unit with 60 day return and 1 year full warranty. UPS/Amazon screwed up and did not put a phone number on box. If I had not checked tracking it would still be sitting down by the airport. Their fault but I could drive an hour and pick up or wait till Monday. It was a bear to start the first time out of the box so I pulled the air filter to look at the throttle linkage. "Reconditioned" clearly means "do not hook up the cable to the pressure valve". So I fixed that and then it started just fine BUT would stall out sometimes when it cycled. Sounded to me like the idle was set a tad low and the linkage looked sloppy so I revisited what I had done and decided I need to move the cable another 1/16" or so. NOW it starts and cycles like a champ. All this fooling with the linkage made me look across the barn at the Senco so I pulled it over, took off the air filter and started cleaning and fooling with the linkage on it. Pulled the cord and it fired to life, kept running and powered my wrench. Call that a #@!!* moment...oops. So now I have TWO compressors!!! Thinking I will keep them both since the Senco leaks out of one tank a bit. At least now I can justify replacing the tanks iffen I can find them. Appreciate all the help!
