Bad Boy Zero Turns???

I bought one last Spring. I have over 60 hours on 'her' (That's right-her) and she has never let me down. I mow 45 degree hills and rough pastures with no problems. Last week I ran into a concrete stanchion that shook me but that mower had no problem with. The fact that they're made in Arkansas had an influence on my purchase. I refuse to buy ANY thing from 'Gookville', Asia. Yeah, I guess that makes me 'prejudiced'.

I've had one for two years now. It has around 200 hrs on it. It's been good so far only had to replace the blades a couple of times and one battery. I've been very happy with this one. Tony

Sure you will hear all kinds of opinions.
I bought one 5 years ago, only problem I've had is the covers in the final drive started seeping, there are O-rings for seals, replaced those and no problems. Still have the original battery. It is the 60 in. ZT, it takes about 2-1/2 to 3 hrs. to mow if we start and don't take any breaks. I have no complaints. Don't know about buying used, you never know what you are getting that way.

I have a 54 inch. Bought it this spring. It has the kawasaki engine instead of the Kohler. Got about 25 hours on it. No problems yet

I have a 60". Had it about 3 years, has just over 50 hours. Has the Kohler. Love it. No problems so far.

I have a 54" with the Kohler engine and the only complaint that I have is that the machine is too fast for the blades. It does not create enough rpms for me. It will cut decent enough if you don't mind going slow.

Just curious what you set your blade hight at? I was noticing that on mine when the blade is set to 3.5 if I drop it down 3 it's a little better if I go down to 2.5 it cuts ok at higher speeds. Only does it in the taller grass.

Bought a ZT 60" with a Kohler in 2013, have 85 hours on it. I mow about 3 1/2 acres. Very good residential mower.
Older models did have transaxle pump cover leakage problems. A new seal and sometimes a new cover fixed that.
Newer models have went to one fuel tank and some plastic stuff that gets in the way of servicing the machine. Newer models have a rubber dust cover over the front wheel casters that get knocked off pretty easily. I put a long zip tie around mine.
None of the Bad Boys have grease fittings on the deck spindles. That is a draw back to their mower line. I took my spindles apart and installed grease fittings. It took about 45 minutes per spindle but well worth the time to save bearings.
The only trouble I have had was a broken mount bolt on the right transaxle. I do not know what I did to break it. I replaced it and checked all the other bolts. Have not had a problem since.
You did not say which model Bad Boy you are looking at. I would not buy a MZ model if you yard is very rough. They have a short wheel base and small tires.

I have one that is 3 years old. No problems at all. I am a BAD BOY authorized repair center, But I'm kindly like the MAYTAG man, I never have one in for a warranty problem. As far as I am concerned, they are darn hard to beat for the price. There may be a lot better mower out there but you will pay a lot more for it.

I have a 2007 with hundreds of hours. Have had a few repairs but it is 9 years old. If I was buying a new mower it would be a Bad Boy. Mine is a ZT 60" with Briggs engine.

I will have to check to verify, but I think it is set at 3". In the mowers defense I am cutting Bahia grass on close to 5 acres, and I probably don't cut it as often as I should.

I have a 60" with a Kohler for 4 summers now and been extremely pleased. If you are gonna buy a new one, buy it from a dealer, not TSC (they sell at the same price as the dealer, but have 0 customer service) I have probably 500 hours on ours as I mow 3 places and my son mows some on the side. Well pleased with ours.

had mine for 5 yrs. Wore out original blades. Very minor repairs, about once a yr. Briggs engine. Very good deal for $4k.

Boss has owned one for 3+ years. We use it to mow four farm yards. One of the main operators is his daughter, who could break a ball bearing in a grease pit. So far, she hasn't been able to damage it. The mower deck is welded plate steel, not the thin stamped stuff commonly seen.

Only quirk it has is when turning the mower deck on. If the deck isn't all the way up, it will throw the drive belt. After it is going, the deck can be lowered with no problem.

I bought a new one in 2010. I love it. I mow about 3 1/2 acres, including around the barns and sheds, and have basically "brushhogged" with it when I get behind and let the weeds get too tall. The only thing I have ever had to replace is the normal wear items, like a belt and blades. And one belt tension spring, which was super easy to change. Mine is a 60 inch Lightning Z with a 26 HP Kawasaki.

That's because as you lower the deck, it gets tilted forward more. At higher settings the deck is flat or even tilted backwards, which makes for a poor cut because you're cutting the grass twice.

With the front of the deck lower you only cut the grass once.
