international 574 stuck in 2 gears

Gday,
Was doing some grading work on the my 574 international
in 4th gear low range, when it jumped out of gear and stalled. was able to get first gear and get it back to the workshop. Unable to get any other gear other than first, the high,low,netural and reverse shifter is working fine. Would appreciate all input and ideas, experiences.

Never had a problem with the speed lever gears 1-4. The problem was always with the range lever Hi,Lo,Rev. I would say it sounds like some fumbling with the levers under the tin work. To get that off you have to pull the seat off. We always just pulled the seat with that plate under it. There are bolts both under the seat, and outside the fender from the side. In the US they would be a 5/16 bolt. Might see if one of the pins got out of place binding the levers.

Caterpillar Guy has it right, we used to
have that issue with the one 674. Make sure
the spring that holds side tension on the
HI-LO-N-R shifter is in place, it helps. I
put new bushings in the base of my shift
levers, thar really helped out. I just used
bushings from the hardware store, and
anything that pivoted that didn't have a
bushing was drilled and had one installed.

Sounds like your linkage is wore out and it's not going in gear all the way even though the lever is where it's suppose to be. Just thought
I'd mention that since it was already said. Let us know what you find.
