why so much difference in 1 week re aumanns sale today was great--polks had many tractors with only 1 bid I presume the owners --why do people sell a polks I have heard for years they are bad about jacking the bids-----any one else see this

Why only 1 bid on the tractors? Owners bidding is usually not allowed at auctions. What's to stop the owner from running up the price? Was there a reserve? Musta been, heck I would of bought them all for a few dollars each. A few things I've seen and know about auctions. The wife and I collect antiques and other things of interest. Some weeks we go to several auctions. First the jersey produce auction. If the farmer can't make back any money he gives all the veggies to our church to distribute. If he gives away the veggies at least we give the basket back. If he sells for less than the basket cost him he really loses. Second my buddy sold livestock. I would go with him and never speak to him at the auction, total strangers. I knew what each cow needed to bring. If it didn't meet his price I would buy them back. He'd rather loose gas money and a few bucks on commission not hundreds for a poor sale.

Its been years since I went to Polk's, but at the time owner bidding was definately frowned upon. But the owner was given the opportunity to stand by the truck and give a yea or nay on the final price.

I always thought an auction was to SELL an item not to get it appraised --we had an auctioneer here 2 years ago who rolled the bids now his co is gone guess it worked for the best
