Critter control, part one

Well, this is what happens when you've had enough of coons on your front porch when kids leave cat food out a few times. 9pm, walk out, juvenile coon hides under railing, look to make sure cats out of the way, flashlight and enter .38 airweight. Had some to stuff to clean up. I thought I cleaned it up pretty well before this picture. They seem to be bad this year. My city born wife doesn't know what to think about me sometimes!

Month or so ago, I blasted a raccoon right in the garage at our house with a 12 gauge.

My wife's a farm gal, so she understands. Plus, after being married to me for 50 years, I don't think too much surprises her anymore.

Dad got rid of his coondogs, I guess I'm gettin too old to chase em all night like we used to. Grandpa always baked a young coon with carrots onion tators garlic celery...the works! Tasted pretty dang good to a poor country boy.

Ha ha, I'm getting good at not doing that anymore. Seems like coons come in waves around here. I got one off the deck with my XDM .45 the other night. We have a pair of Jack Russell pups that are getting a little more brave about going after anything that moves. They were 10' tall and bulletproof on that dead coon...
