Massey Harris Tractor Red Paint code

Hello all,

I am trying to confirm the CORRECT paint code for Massey Harris Red. I am soon to paint a Massey Harris engine. I found what I think is the correct information but I am still a little confused. in the thread seen here http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=mf&th=119877 I found PPG Red 70837. But MM Zack posted pics and his tractor looks good. he says his red is 73-75 GM car code: 55-4658-A. I like his tractor and want to use 55-4658-A but I have yet to find anyone that can validate the whole code. 4658 comes up but the entire 55-4658-A does not. Can someone please help me? I need answers soon! I have tried to contact MMZack but so far I have not gotten a response back from him. PLEASE Help!

I found William Wolf, 20000 Miles Rd, Warrensville hts, OH 44128. Phone (216) 663-9653 to be my best supplier
for Massey-Harris paint. We recently did a 444 Massey-Harris and it looks great. Hope this helps.

The paint code 55-4658-A is a Martin Senour number for 73-75 GM code 75, called apple red. I believe the #55 is for Acrylic Urethane. That color leans a little to the orange side, can be toned down some by adding a little darker red to get the perfect match.

Thank you for your reply. Judging by the message I received when I tried to call this morning that company has been sold to another company. What EXACTLY do I need to ask them for? I am not rying to be difficult, I want to get this right the FIRST time

oem 444 engine was not red they used a casket gold paint

I received an order from that company less than a month ago. I think they will know what you need. If not
I can go the office tomorrow and get the correct numbers from their invoices. I will try to post a picture of
the 444.

Well Joe if you want to be correct, don't follow Charles's advise as he can't even get the decals correct on his tractor.

I painted mine with the GM color and hated it, just to orange, went with the color codes off the Massey Harris Collectors Club page, looks right now.
