I haven't used our Windmill 850 Seed / Fertilizer Spreader since I was a kid and don't have the manual for it since Dad sold the farm.

My question is how far do I open the doors to put on 200 lbs per acre of dry Urea on my Sweet Corn Field.

not very far, lol .. I have a similar spreader , and I think if the urea flows well , you would not want a hole much bigger than 2 U.S .quarters ,. keep in mind you are betterto err on not enuf instead of too much , you can always go back thru again , if you get it on too lite ..

I'm not familiar with that spreader but there must be a way to calibrate it. Usually based on the spread width and your speed you should be able to figure out how long it will take to cover 0.1 or 0.2 of an acre. Take to spinner off and catch the fert in a bucket while timing . Then it's basic math and adjust till you get it right.

How about putting in 50 lbs. and see how far it goes. Step off the sq. ft. you covered and do the math. Then start adjusting up or down from there.

Those cone seeder spreaders are nearly all the same. Your chart might have a different number scale, you might need to fiddle a bit.

But download this PDF manual and you should get it dialed in pretty quickly.
