Thanks,Steve

I work in the parts dept. of a Massey dealer. There were very few of those sold in our area, and those that were, were before we took on the line. Therefore I don't have a lot of firsthand experience, but this much I do know. There are a lot of parts, especially for that V8 engine, that are not available. Those that are, are very expensive. My advice, RUN!!!

The 1105/1135's were pretty good tractors, but most in our area are worn out buy now.

If I were in your shoes, with the IH tractors & knowledge you already have, I'd buy an IH 10/14/1566 and never look back.

brother in law had 1 that would strip the splines off the tranny input shaft. I think the last time he took it to Laconia Ia and had it built up and recut. Buy an Ihc.

We had one and never really had any trouble with it. For a big engine it could not lug like the deere 6 cyl would. Mostly used it to run a manure pump where we could let it run wide open.

Hi The only thing it has going for it are low hours and the price. As said engine parts are getting hard to find. The weak point on it is the transmission couplings for drive and pto. The final drives especially with duals and if it's been a heavy tillage or pulled heavy loads are known to drop or chip teeth as well.
you also have to watch the brakes aren't worn out or close to it, if they are the system puts filings through the hyds, and screws up the pumps and everything else in the hyd circuit just like some Deeres will.multi power and pto drive discs can screw round if the teeth are starting to wear to shark tooth sharp, and groove the drums as well they will stick on the MP or drag on the pto if warped from over loading.

I can find worn out or blown up 1135's round here with trans and hyd problems, there are lots more 1155's with the extra power in the same mess. It's the same rear end as 35's but couldn't take the extra power doing heavy tillage work.
Yeah it might be alright at those hours unless it's round the clock and looks nice at 14800 hours. I had an 1135 here looked nice it had issues when I got it as a fixer. we think that was really 15600 hours with what it was like when I got in it to fix the transmission, and found the other chipped and missing teeth. worn splines and the filings in everything from the brakes.
Your money your choice, BE REAL CAREFUL! I wouldn't personally touch it with someone else's 10 ft pole after my 1135 even if it was 4800 hrs genuine one day somebodys going to get problems with it. Are the 80% rears original as new fronts and 80% non original rears could be hiding the true hours if it wore the first set out.

The tractor is from an estate, The old man didnt farm that much so I'm pretty sure the hrs are accurate. The tractor is just 'top shelf'. He took exquisite care of all his equipment. He also has an 1105 and 4440. The kids are keeping the 4440.CompAred to the Massey, the 4440 is junk.

Ok so it's either cheap in your area and nothing hopefully wrong, if it's that nice or nobody wants it for some reason. Do you have an MF dealer or wrecker close to you if you need parts or help?. if there is no backup for it that might not help it sell. or maybe guys have moved on from them to newer or more usable tractors with better specks in that area to.
Tractors and demand change by areas I couldn't do anything selling that round here as a working tractor unless it was cheap and the wreckers might buy it at $2-$2500,if they know it's good and have customers for parts other than 6 nice tires to make a profit on.

There is a good MF dealer 20 miles away. Most farmers here are "JohnDeere" diehards. and most have moved past the older tractors. You hardly ever see a 4430 any more. Just 'po boys' like me use the older stuff.

The best I can tell you is to look it up on the Nebraska test, and compare it to others the same size, as far as fuel consumption goes it isn't any different then the next brand of the same size and age. I run the same engine in a 2745 Massey and it is an amazing engine for a V8, it has great low end torque. I wouldn't be scared of buying it but then, I love my Masseys! LOL

I dont think it has had a lot of "hard" work. As for me,4x16 rollover plow;15 'disk;16 ft 'pulvimulcher'/roller harrow;12 land plane

The only thing going for that MF 1155 is it seems to be "cheap". Motor parts are getting hard to find. The transmission and final drive both have known issues. Your going to find out AGCO parts are a whole different world on cost and availability. I would rather see you find a Case 1370 over a MF 1155. I see Case 1370s sell around here for that $5-6K range. I would run not walk away form that MF 1155.

I think you might find that tractor a bit thirsty with that size equipment. The v8s are not bad on fuel at full load, but suck it down at lighter loads.

Look up the Nebraska Tractor test (#1134 ?) and compare fuel consumption with other tractors at the loads you would be using.

That sounds like it could be a well taken care or tractor. The tires should be worth $2000 or more. That leaves just $3000 for the rest of the tractor with an 84dB cab. You could treat it as a "disposable" tractor, i.e. use it reasonably and replace if it ever has a major breakdown that is too expensive to repair. If you can get the A/C in the cab working and if can use it on loads that don't lug it down it could work well for a long time. You shouldn't loose much on it if you have to send it to a salvage yard, so I'd take the chance on it.

Since everyone gives them a bad name I'd offer a low price I could live with and buy and use it until it broke down with something big.I've done that with several tractors and it turned
out to be a good deal.Had a Zebra tractor and a UTB 800 (and you think there aren't many MF 1155 around) both cheap used the Zebra for over 2000 hrs and sold it for $200 less than I paid and no expenses except change oil filters etc.Guys that buy new tractors can loose more than $5000 when they drive them off the lot and folks think they're smart.
