Round balers

Im looking at round balers..I make about a 1000 sq. bales a year so I don't need anything real fancy..what would be a good fit..thanks
 
I replaced my small squares with round bales last year. I would suggest net wrap with a monitor, also a bale kicker if your fields are level.
 
Depends a lot on what you want to spend. When I went to round bales I picked up an old NH850 real cheap and have been using it ever since. The old chain balers any more are cheap but pretty much need to have 60 or so HP to run most any of them. Ya there are a few that you can get by with 40 or so HP but not many
 
I second the older NH balers. Had and 851 when I was in high school and spent my summer doing custom baling. Baled almost a 500 bales in the wildlife refuge that summer. Moved on to a Deere with net wrap now but think the baler did as good .
 
80% of the rollers around here were and still are green. I went looking for one when the time came and had to settle for a Hesston as none were available. After a green became available I swapped. Used it till I retired and downsized and found a smaller green. Can't say about the rest of them but green has served me well. Price? varies by location and condition. What I tell you has no bearing on where you are unless you are here.

There is nothing wrong with a New Holland belt baler. 644/664/688 ect. They are priced better than a jd and make nice bales. We had a heavy alfalfa/orchard grass first cutting and I baled 36 feet at a time with my 688 without a problem.
 
I have had Vermeer and New Holland, neighbors have John Deere. I really can't say much bad about any of the three. I have a Vermeer now, because I got a good deal. I had a NH 650, it did a good job. Now have a Vermeer 604L. It's good too. You can usually get a better deal on a New Holland around here.
