Blister Beetles?

Last night I stopped at the neighbors for a toddy, and he was telling me that he can't little square bale his third and forth cut alfalfa because of the blister beetle. During the course of the conversation, I told him I had a set of mounted sickle mowers. He got all sorts of excited. He thinks that if I mow it, he can make horse hay out of if, because the Blister Beetle will move out and not be crushed.
I never feed alfalfa to my horses, so I have no clue if this will work or not. What is your thoughts?

It is supposed to work. It isn't the live beetle that gets the horses it's the dead ones that get crushed in the crimpers. The live ones will leave after the hay is cut. Bob
