Anyone Know What This Is

I just picked up a semi load of all horse drawn equipment, all in excellent condition. Not mine, I drive for a local auctioneer. This one stumped me but the owner told me what it was. I am referring to the back item the item in front of it is a brand new tedder.

My two older brothers did a lot of that. You were paid by the pounds you had at the end of the day. When the bluegrass was tall it worked pretty slick. That was back in the sixties and seventies.Still some around here left to the elements.

Bluegrass stripping was not only to harvest the seed for replanting. They used the seed and extracted a blue dye from it. Don't remember the process. gobble

Up here in northern MN we call it a "June Grass Stripper" We have one at our local tractor club, very few people know what it is.

In the 50's dad had a guy come and strip bluegrass. Had four hooked together behind a tractor. These were built in Kansas city.

Could someone describe how it does whatever it's gonna do?

Looks like it's pulled by something or someone.

Does the drum turn front to top or front to bottom?

Etc.
