Fungal Pneumonia

Have any of you guys had Fungal Pneumonia and if so do you still have any trouble breathing or have symptoms? Me and my friend ended up with it from cleaning out an old grain bin that that he got for free. Need less to say it cost us a pretty penny by the time we both go out of the hospital.

I got histoplasmos helping a neighbor work inside a chicken coop. It's a fungal infection in lung, found in bird, bat and chicken poo. Coughed so much, lungs hurt. I reacted to meds, couldn't take them. NO FUN, i HATE CHICKENS. It can kill too.

NOT to preach. Months ago I had the home built blowers made from furnaces that my buddy pulled out of homes. He does HVAC work. You should have had one of those running. Build one for next time. They do move a heck of a lot of air!

that is what I had from the grain bin I told the wife to take me to the e.r. after I woke up because I could not breathe. A few days before my reg. dr. said I had a cold and sent me on my way. The lung dr. at the hospital to me I had lung cancer in both lungs and the disease dr. said with 15.mins later I had histoplasmo. That dr said we where very lucky. That all happened Christmas of 2014 I'm 39 now and some days still have days that are a little difficult breathing.

That may be what I used to get, we called it dust pneumonia. I worked at a grain elevator and back then the dust protection was little more than a bandanna tied over your face. I never went to the doctor but I was usually sick for a couple of weeks or more each time. The last time I went to the doctor he said my lungs looked like a coal miner. It's not too bad in the winter but the summer heat and humidity is the worst.

Dr thought I had lung cancer too even after blood tests came back with histoplasmos. Had cat scans and another test where they pumped radioactive isotopes in blood. They wanted to do a lung biopsy, I said no. After 4 cat scans, Dr agreed with me, no lung cancer. The meds for histo were worse than histo. Took me a long time to get over it. I was 63 at the time.

I never told neighbor I got histo helping him and that it cost me a ton of money.

After reading the posts below, it makes me wonder if that is the type of pneumonia I had back in my late 20"s that took so many years to recover from and left me with lung damage.

Is that the same thing that's known as Farmers Lung? A neighbor woman had that and was in bad shape with it for a couple of years.

Gonna have to watch that. I buy all kinds of old dirty junk and rehab it. There is a thing I am familiar with called pigeon breeders lung. Some of the racing guys around here (don't laugh, one local guy one $250K in a big race) have had trouble with it. Lifetime ailment for them, I believe. ANY dusty environment is a worry. I jump all over the wife and kids in the barn. They stir up all kinds of dust and I tell them to clear out and not breathe it.

I know someone who LOST a lung to that. started as just 1 lobe, then it came back and took the rest of it.

the fungal meds hit her so hard she had a mild heart attack.

whole ordeal nearly killed her, and now has left her generally unhealthy and she has a hard time with physical activities. young person too.. sad.

How did she get it? I know of a woman who go it from her chickens. Only had a few chickens for eggs.
