It is below zero and my electric Thermometer stopped working. LOL I am too lazy to go back outside and read the glass one. It is just below zero and 20-30 MPH winds. The wind chill is terrible. We had everything in good shape for the livestock yesterday. Everything is behind wind breaks or in the sheds. KNOCK on wood, we did not have any waterer issues this morning.

Well I am going to fix some lunch and then go do chores for a neighbor. He called and is down with the flu. He just ahs a few feeder calves so it just throw them some fed and check their water. It is like normal. He call right 2 minutes AFTER I had just took all my cold weather cloths off from doing morning chores. LOL

Stay warm and be safe. In this type of weather you can get in trouble FAST!!!

-10 about a hundred miles west of you at 11:30 a.m. Too much wind for me also. I had to get gas on the way home from church. I should have done it Friday when it was warmer and I was dressed warmer. I may or may not learn!

-7 wind chill. Moving hay today. All of the ground is frozen so I can finally get in without tracking everything up. I'm sitting in the 58 GMC right now with the heater humpin'. She was a little upset about getting moving this morning. I was too, though. I don't know how those cows do it, but they were all standing at the bales gossiping this morning when I checked.

Cold and breezy in SE WI too. -4 at noon. It really wasn't bad this morning, but now more wind is picking up. Cattle are fed, and all water open. Hope it stays that way. At least it sounds like only a couple of days of this, with mid 30s by next weekend.

my dad lives in a low spot between rochester and winona and he is sick also so i have been staying at his place feeding the cattle and chickens this morning it was -20 at 6:30. the power to the chicken coop is out so i ran a cord from the shop to the heat lights. last thursday the cord for the tractors shorted and the loader woundnt start and the batteries in the mixer tractor were bad.seems like everything goes wrong when someone is ill and its cold

-19 this morning on the way to church...sure glad I don"t have livestock anymore...never had a choice about going out then, sick or not. I"ll bet you weren"t as cold doing the neighbor"s chores...just a good feeling for doing a friend a favor.

JD , are you close to Decorah by chance??
I lived there in the early 70's. Beautiful country but COLD for a central Missouri boy!!

True Son, I am 100 miles south of Decorah. We hauled a lot of feed to just north of Decorah. We had loads going there just about everyday.

Yes that's why I was up in that part of the country. Sales Manager for a major feed company!
If your 100 miles south, you farm some of the BEST, if not THE BESTfarmland in the World!!!'

About the same here in Cherokee county Jim. I don't have any chores so I planned to stay inside today. My dog (yellow Lab) dragged a dead bird of some sort up to the step and wanted to bring it in. Well that didn't happen, but I had to venture out to get rid of it.

We have some real good ground but we also have some sand and clay too. You need to go north and west about 10 miles and you hit the 90 CSR ground. My oldest son bought his wife's family's ground and it is about as good as it gets.

-8 and falling just north of Waterloo IA right now. Been in by the fire since getting home from church. Plan on staying in tomorrow too... MLK day off tomorrow.
