Thrust Bearing

Guys -

Probably a simple question, but replacing the thrust bearing on the spindle of a International 424 Tractor. I am assuming that these are sealed bearings? Link below is to a similar product that I have. Just wanted to make sure I am not missing something here.

they are not sealed. grease is supposed to work its way into the bearings when the lower spindle bushing is greased.

Either way, it shouldn't matter as long as the bearing is the same size. My experience is that sealed bearings last longer because they get less dirt in them along with the grease. If you don't like sealed bearings, just pop the seal out. Even the metal seals come out easy.

I replaced them in a 3414 years ago. Search on "unground thrust bearings" and you should find catalogs, then go by the shaft size to find the number. Lots of sources for them and don't cost much. I pack some grease from the ID before I put them in.
