the other day while feeding busted the transfer case on the 4x4 repaired it or thought i did, some thing else broke inside now tractor will only move in high range, makes roaring sound when try to use low side and will mot move, any suggestions.

We had a 584 and had problems with the shift rails popping
out of sync for the high low reverse, it would get stuck
between ranges or stuck in low. Look over the linkage and
rods going into the transmission on the left side. The previous
owner tried to fix with a welder making correct repair
impossible but we could pry or hammer the linkage into sync.

Never had trouble with the 4wd other that stripping input
flanges on the front axle all the time.

Hi, the usual problem with Rev/Hi/Lo other than the shift rods is the shift lever that goes thru the transmission case shears
off.
But the usual symptom is that is stuck in either Rev or Hi or Lo.

The levers can be replaced by draining trans/diff, removing MCV and hydraulic pump and shortening the handle on a wrench and
removing the nut that holds item 12 on the shaft.

Broken Shifter Lever:

Hi Irving, i have changed many of those parts, at the Case-IH dealer, where I have worked for. You can remove the lever and
replace it by the left side of the rear train. Just drain the oil, remove the MCV control valve ( the plate that hold the
hydraulic pump and filter) With a short 7/8 open wrench, loosen the sealed nut, remove the broken shaft and place the new one.
It has a big spline for the timing. Just align the short lever with the fork.

Hope this helps
