OFF DIM ON switch as OFF/ON only?

How do I wire this OFF DIM ON switch to be an OFF/ON headlamp and tail lamp switch only? 6v positive ground system on a 1926 Gotfredson farm truck.

My generator does [u:0955402dde]not[/u:0955402dde] have a Field terminal, so I do not need to use this switch for a generator output resistor.

Here is the front of the assembly. (The missing gauge is oil pressure).

The headlamp gauge has screws marked BAT, REAR, ON, LHD, and a mystery label I cannot make out:

To use this switch as a ON/OFF only, do I simply wire the negative battery lead to BAT, the rear tail light to REAR, and the headlamps to ON? And, ignore the LHD and mystery screw?

There also is that cab light on the front of the assembly to light the interior.

Thanks in advance!

The { L.HD. } looks to be Left Headlight. Now the other should be right. Very complex switch to just do a simple job. Another thing I could think of is "shrouded" like a dash lite. You did say it had a dash lite. These are my guesses. Jeffcat

LHD... good guess. Not sure why you would need left and right headlight screws. Could be a possibility, though.

The dash light is just a bulb seen above the fuse area in the photo posted earlier.

May be they mean, DIM = parking and ON added the head lights. Check to see if you have continuity with switch on dim and both screws when turned to on. Then wire it as a standard set up with 1157 bulbs...

lhd... Low headlight could be it! The DIM setting added a resistor circuit for the FIELD terminal, which I do not have on my generator. The FIELD is internally grounded in the genny.

I will do the continuity test if I can figure out how the light circuit was looped through the AMP meter and FUSE circuit.

This gauge assembly hasn't been used in maybe 50 years. I ripped out numerous spiced and disconnected aftermarket switches and knobs and now I am starting over. In the end it should be pretty simple.

THANKS ALL!
