Import tax on Tractor Parts?

Has anyone bought tractor parts, say from the UK into the US and if so did you have to pay any import tax? The US gov has a duty/tariff handbook online for reference, called HTS guide or something like that. It appears engine/tractor parts for internal piston combustion engines are duty free...according to what I can understand, but the company I'm buying from cannot tell me what import taxes I would pay. They basically said once the parts hit the US, customs would contact me for the taxes then. I'm afraid I cannot enter into a purchase without knowing what it will cost me. I thought I'd see if anyone has gone through this.

I just got a bunch of parts from Greece and all I paid was freight. Got the parts in eleven days after sending money transfer.

I can hunt up the receipt if no one else has a definite answer, but I got some David Brown parts from England over the winter. I don't think there was a tax. They came US Mail. I think all I paid was postage.

Trying to make sense of the paperwork that came with it. The parcel weight was 7kg. Good sized package, had a steering wheel, lights, some small sheet metal parts, etc. Total on the parts was £339.53. There's a line that says "Parcelforce Z". I guess that's the shipping. That one says £95.75. The total was £435.25. That equated to $670.90 USD.

Thanks, you got 28% of your total parts cost equates to shipping cost. I'm getting 35%, so it is probably about right...just seems like a lot for shipping. Even with the high shipping cost, the cost is still less than what I can find here in the US...thanks for your reply.

I buy a lot of imported parts. Tariffs are part of the purchase price. Don't know anyone who sorts it all out for the consumer.

Can you explain what you mean by tariffs are part of the purchase price? Are you saying the purchase price includes the tariff? Do you get contacted by the USA customs to have to pay more once the parts enter the USA? This is what the seller is telling me what might happen.

I just ordered a stand jack from a guy on ebay. He said that the item would be shipped to me directly from China. I paid him. He
estimated the time of delivery and it arrived much earlier than his estimate. No doubt, the posts on it were definitely from there to
here. I paid no extra and no one contacted me.

I have bought medicine from a drug company and had the products imported and shipped to me. Came straight to me with the
customs inspection stamp and all, no one contacted me, no extra price........

I don't recall but as such it must not have been much, surely not what you would expect for an overseas delivery.

Thanks, yeah, I forgot about ebay...I buy a lot of oversees stuff from ebay too. This order feels different than ebay, it's direct from the company, not routed thru ebay, and the company is telling me there will or may (they are not clear) be customs calling me when the parts hit the US. Being this is a large order, ~2K, if the customs is high, that's a problem which I don't think I can gamble on. I may just buy in the US and pay a little more, but at least there are no surprises.
