Best buy the right bolts from the dealer. Flywheel bolts are commonly special, as in special shoulder size,
head size, etc. NOT and area you want to take a chance on!

Sure do not want to argue with Steve but I have two NH bailers that have been running on 2 1/2 in long 7/16 grade 2 bolts for years. Might replace one in three years only if something causes a full lock up.

I'm talking about engine flywheel to crankshaft bolts. Major disaster if those fail!

If it's a shear bolt, then yes, grade 2 is typical.

I always used a grade 2. But I used to share my baler with a neighbor. He got some from the dealer and IIRC they were grade 5. I have had the Gr 2s fail under what seemed to be a normal load without a slug.

Buy and use the New Holland shear bolts. Standard bolts are too small too hard or too soft. Will be replacing bushings in flywheel and yoke.

Grade 2 is no marks on bolt head?
