I have a 99 Explorer that has become my hauling vehicle for small things and I have the rear seat folded down most of the time with tools etc in it. Thurs the drivers seat back bolt broke and I took it apart after removing the seatcover which was easier than I thought it would be. So last Aug after getting 2 recall notices ,I called the dealer and he said bring it in and we'll do the seat back bolt and the cruise control pigtail. After the bolt broke I called them and got the run-around from svc man who transferred me to parts guy whom I had to leave a message with. After looking for a suitable bolt I went ahead and did a diy repair on it. The parts guy hasn't called back yet. I don't know if the broken bolt is the original or replacement bolt. I guess I'll just let it go for now and see if they call me. The vehicle is 16 yrs old!
