Going back to work again

Just couldn't stay retired. Got a call Thursday afternoon wanting me to go to Michigan City, Indiana & do Safety for an electrical contractor at the power house there. It's a good company and I've worked with the Super before. Gonna take a week in May or June and in August to put up hay (part of the deal). Anybody live in that area? If so give me a shout & we can meet for coffee. I guess the job will last till sometime on November. Keith

I'm sure you'll make sure they wear gloves. WEAR YOUR GLOVES! Friend blew out his elbows, working hot primary.

Which contractor? I retired from 531 a few years ago and worked for many of the local contractors. Joe

I was told there is two kinds of tired one from working and one from sitting. I remember how many farmer's retired and moved to town and if they didn't stay busy it wasn't too long and there was a funeral. My dad did volunteer work at his church until he was in his 90's priest always said he had the oldest alter boy around

Nipsco is a pretty nice Plant. West side of Michigan City. The Town of Pines has several modest cost motels (West on highway 12) The Blackhawk comes to mind. Lake Michigan is very nice. Beverly Shores has great non crowded free tan sand beaches. Jim

Live in michigan city. Uncles son running the crane at the power station there. Pretty big job seems like. Bad part of town is north end, everywhere else is fine, north end is just a little rough.

If I ever get the urge to return to work, I plan to step outside and bang my head against the brick wall until the urge goes away. NEVER HAD TO GET CLOSE TO THE BRICK. Happily retired for 11 years and too busy to go back to work.

Social security told me I could return to work and not be charged a penilty because I'm full retirement age. I told them the same thing, no way.

Enerfab, Electrical side---Enerfab bought Brown Electric a couple of years ago It was Enerfab electric until last Nov., now it's just enerfab

Is it? Recently I've worked Gary and Lake County. Try some of the residential areas near the steel mills where two out of three houses are boarded up, and I'm talking areas where the houses are 4,000 to 6,000 square feet and were obviously the place to live at the turn of the last century. I live just south of Michigan more eastern Indiana than west, but drove by Westville last evening on my way home, going out of my way to stop in Walkerton to buy a couple of pizzas for my family. I haven't been through Michigan City of Walkerton in about 15 years I figure. Friendly folks in Walkerton anyways, especially at the ice cream/pizza parlor. Real friendly as a matter of fact.

I live about 13 miles east of Michigan City,In.. Michigan City is no differant than an other city there are go and bad parts of town. On the norh end of the city you have The Light House outlet shopping center a few restaurants and Blue Chip Casino and on the south side of city ( 421-I94) is where you will find most of retail- big box stores and a number of restaurants.
