The original subject was "Re: FARMALL H lift all system".

I hope someone still sees this thread. We have an H Farmall, and we converted it to 2 way hydraulics by installing a t-fitting on the filler pipe, like several people suggested. Everything works great, except oil shoots out of the vent hole on the filler cap like a geyser. Any suggestions? Someone said to replace the filler cap with a non-vented one, but that doesn't sound right. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Remove the tee in the filler pipe and put the tee on the bottom of the belly pump in the drain hole. Use a pipe plug on the other opening in the tee to change the fluid. Assuming you are using the filler pipe as the hydraulic return.

Thanks for the reply!! So you are saying to put the filler pipe back the way it was, and instead run the return into the drain plug on the bottom? That makes sense. That way the vent hole could be used just for venting, and not returning fluid. BUt I wonder how the other guys did it without it squirting out the hole? Thanks again for the reply. I really appreciate it!!!!

My main H with a loader has a single pressure line running to a two lever control valve. The plumbing is done at the control valve with one lever plumbed for single acting on the lift cylinders and the other plumbed for a two way cylinder on the bucket.

The factory set up on a Super mounted the valve onto the filler tube and the cap used a bleeder valve in it. You closed the bleeder for using double action cylinder which is when you used that valve for double action cylinder. When you used single action cylinders you use the ports off the belly pump and opened the bleeder.

A non-vented cap works because when two-way hydraulics are being used, the volume of oil in the reservoir does not change nearly as much. There is always oil coming back in from the other side of the cylinder to replace the oil being pumped out.

In one-way operation, large volumes of oil are being sucked out, but nothing is coming back in.

Thanks for the replies everyone! We ended up plugging it into the drain hole
at the bottom, and it works fine. Otherwise, I guess I could have just
capped it off. Thanks again!
