Guys,
Have a few shallow ditches on my property to allow for runoff. Right now they are full of ice. Would a three point middle buster or subsoiler work to break up the ice.??

It would be best to leave it alone, anything you do will make a mess. Unless its creating a water problem otherwise just let mother nature take care of it. JMHO. Jim

If it's solid ice right to the dirt, no way.

Ice is VERY hard. You would be hard pressed to break it up with a D9 Cat and a ripper, let alone a little tractor and a cheap Farm & Fleet middle buster. Your only hope would be to get under it, but if it's froze to the ground, that's not going to happen.

Besides if you can get under it that means water is flowing. If water is flowing there is no need to break up the ice.

The short answer is, you're going to have to wait until it melts.
