checking the tank today and noticed something in the bottom. It's the fuel intake screen. I drained the tank and found what looked like a few pieces of black plastic in the bottom too--remains of whatever connected the screen to the pickup tube I guess. The parts manual says there is a screen, hose, and sender. Nothing about clamps or anything. I notice the screen has a flare on it but the sender tube doesn't.
I reckon I'll use a piece of fuel line to connect the two and if it doesn't fit really tight I'll put some clamps on it and as for no flare on the sender tube, I guess I'll ignore it. I've connected hose to straight tube before w/o problems.
Sound like a good plan?
It appears the screen should be suspended above the bottom in a vertical position. Correct? I mean it might should have a longer hose and lay horizontal on the bottom of the tank.
Is regular fuel line like used for gas engines ok submerged in diesel?
