stunning clouds

Just before I took the detour pictures this was up the road. Only place I could get a full horizon shot. These are cloud banks I would guess maybe two or three miles wide? NOT jet trails. Pressure ridges? Shot is taken with a wide angle. Stitch program used in my laptop of five pictures. I just loaded the middle one and the stitched photo. You are looking due east to due west. This was VERY quick and was solid clouds after maybe fifteen minutes. Just one half hour latter and this would have been a screaming orange sunset. Darn

I Always keep an eye out for the weather. Raised on a dairy farm. I have a canon 7D but this is shot with the camera I posted about last week. Nikon Coolpix S9600. 16mp. Over a year old and the new ones are better. Most any photo program with a stitch feature will put your photos together. Takes a little time but crazy neat pics.! Thanks much for the replys .

Neat pics, when I first seen them I thought of the facebook thing my wife was showing me. People calling jet trails "chem trails", like get a life people!

P.S. The picture lies a little in that all of these clouds were straight and even. Every so often you see a fantastic sky.

I had a nice view of the clouds bumping up against the Superstitions mountains yesterday morning - but didn't have the camera along.

Nice cloud pattern; it was nice that you captured it.

SSSSSHH! My FIL might read this! He's already a nut case about conspiracies, and this might push him over the top......

I think those are formed when air goes perpendicular over a mountain range. The cloud forms on the downwind edge of the range, breaks looks and forms again.
