OT: Spelling Error

I can relate

When my wife worked at the newspaper she had to be extra careful when typing up wedding stories, so she didn't end up typing "untied" instead of "united"!

Turn two letters around and "Nuclear Physics" becomes "Unclear Physics".

Rather apt, I think.

When I was in the catholic elementary school, one of the
spelling words was "shirt". Dad reminded me the night before
the test not to forget the "R", which I did.

Quite a few years ago, the local paper had big headlines about a local baseball pitcher who pitched a no-hitter. Except they added another letter in front of the "hitter" part.
My dad thought that was hilarious. I'm not sure if it was the proof-reader's last day or if he was asleep that day, but I'm sure he heard about it.
Last fall, our local high school sent out the school year public calendar to all the parents. Except the word "public" was spelled "pubic". The school board said that it had gotten past their spell checker and if anybody wanted a revised calendar, they could get one free of charge.

I can relate. Years ago, there was a country song
named "Untied" sung by Tommy Collins. I noticed
in a catalog for old 33 1/3 LPs that it was listed
as "United".

I like proof reading, but now with my approaching
"cadillacs" it's harder to pick out the
"misteakes". :)
