What is inside the building and why are they dumped on the floor? Do they fall thru the grates?

They don't haul them like that here, they run the truck onto a platform that tips the whole semi to the drivers side. When the truck gets to a certain point the driver trips a switch and the whole side of the trailer swings open and the beets dump into a big hopper of water.

the building we are driving through is just place for the trucks to drive over to dump then they go up along conveyor into another building where they are processed

They use a wet flume like that here for the train
cars . Some of are other trucks are side dump but
not in this part of the country

This is American Falls . They use the excavator open up the tops of the piles so the beets can breathe they crawl up on top of the pile with the excavator and then dig beets out of the center
