That looks much more authoritative than the little 6' blower on my Massey 35. I like the beater, or whatever that thing above the auger is called.

Is that a Badger?

Curious to know what you think of it, especially the single stage aspect. 1000 PTO? I'd be curious to know if you've tried other blowers and how you'd compare them to this.

I've had an 8' Lorenz (two stage) for many years, good blower but the only brand I've ever owned and I'm always curious how well other blowers work.

Yeah, it's a 1K pto Badger that was given to me by a good friend.

It works good if the snow is cold and dry. If it's wet, it's just a large, heavy boat anchor.

The winters here are going back to "normal" with lots of snow. So, I'm playing with the idea of another brand.

Thanks for the response.

I can recommend Lorenz blowers. I bought a used and abused one 20+ years ago and it's still working well though it's getting to need a little TLC.

I bought it because it's was the same model my father had and I used many times as a teenager. My brother inherited that Lorenz and used for another 20+ years before buying another Lorenz a few years ago. They're heavy duty well built blowers.

A couple years ago I added a hydraulic deflector tip to the spout which has proved to be far more useful than one would ever think, really let's you put the snow where you want it, especially when working around buildings or smaller spaces. Also useful to help limit snow blowing back on you by not tossing the snow 30+ feet in the air, doesn't look as cool, but it's a very useful feature depending on the wind conditions. Something to consider.

I could not use one of those. I had neck surgery three years ago and do not have the mobility to turn around that long.

Neck surgery will do that to ya. Frayed nerves rubbing on scar tissue. I've never owned a snow blower but I've considered getting one now that I have a lot more yard area to clean out. The Fair brand name seems to come up a lot.

Awesome..!!!

Has anyone ever mounted one like that in place of the Header on a Self-propelled Combine..??

Wonder why not..?

Ron.

Sure looks like a natural conversion...and the operator faces the direction of travel..
Much of the rear metal and straw walkers could be eliminated.
Besides, old used ones are cheap..

Here is one that the White Pine Railroad in Alaska retired several years ago. Some of the larger airports have some healthy modern machines and I have noticed that they have separate engines for propulsion and another to power the blower rotor. Really neat to watch them work as they will windrow the snow with the trucks and then blow the window it seems like several hundred feet.

"Given to me by a good friend"-- you didn't happen to have a gun pointed at him at the time did you? lol, just kidding!

Whoa, that was not what I was expecting from your pic of it in the snow the other day!

Around here all the big twin splits are a pair of fans side by side, no cross auger.

Yours is the high speed cross auger, no fan.

Very different design.
