Took a ride out to Jo Daviess county/ NW Illinois today where I grew up, took some back roads where I used to hunt coons and fish.

Guess that's the last pict. for tonight, took forever to load and can't do another. anyway that's apple river, 45 or so years ago I used to fish small mouth bass and coon hunt from that bridge for about 2 miles down stream, lot of bluffs caved in to the river, caught some nice bass and an occasional trout. Don't look like much of a river but when it floods it's hillside to hillside, there's a state park a few miles upstream form that shot, flood came down river leaving canoes, a few small boats and garbage cans and picnic tables for miles, must of been close to 40 years ago. 6 or 8 years ago a flood took out a big old steel bridge down stream 4 or 5 miles, don't think they ever rebuilt that.

Sure is pretty country in this hillsides down there, I go through that area when seeing family around Mt Caroll

Thanks for the picture, gab. Very interesting for me to see and read about the Apple River as I rented some land about 2 miles up stream from the state park, many yrs ago. Not good land for row crops! clint
