Well, everything was going very well, hauling 4-5 yards in a go, unloading fast and easy, and then it started sputtering coming home with the 4th load... Made it about 1/2 way home, and it just died, no popping/sputtering/choking, it just DIED.... (along with my positive spirit!)
Soo, there I sat, side of the road, loaded, dead. This is the point where I realized how many people in this world are complete $%^&*.. I tried flagging 4 YES, FOUR cars down to try to get a ride, use a phone, what ever. The first three wouldn't even stop, or slow down for that matter! The forth one was a WA plate, and the guy and lady pulled up, and he rolled his window down about 1/2 an inch and asked if I was okay, I said well ya, but I need a ride or a phone... He said that his phone didn't work out there and that he didn't trust me to give me a ride "sooo sorry!" and off he went?!?!?!?!?!?!
Next a buddy came along, and he told me he would go home and tell mom what happened, then she came out, then all at one time I had four neighbors, two Mormon boys, mom, and myself ALL attempting to get underneath the hood of the truck!
Anyway, got it pulled off the road, one guy happened to have a little 12 volt fuel pump at home, 15 min away, he went and got it, while I messed with it got back, and we realize that it is a 6 volt system, with a farmer rigged 12 volt battery... Wires aren't long enough to make it from the pump/lines to the battery, so everyone goes home. I come back with quick wires, hook the pump up, and it is pumping away, but it won't pull fuel?? Blew into the tank, pulled fuel, but then stopped when I quit blowing!??!
Finally got everything hooked up, and was able to start it off of dumping fuel in the carb, and I made it home. Got home and went to raise the bed to unload, nothing happens? Made sure the lever was back, yes, made sure the relief valve was closed, yes... Finally figured out that the little pin on the end of the lever rattled out along the way, and it wasn't engaging the pump when I slid the lever.
So, another normal day in the life of a working guy huh?? I will get some pictures one of these days... Maybe tomorrow... One of you guys needs to hold me to that!!!
