I went to an auction about three hours away. Left in a hurry after doing chores early. Got to the sale just in time. They never asked for anything other than my phone number to get a bidders number. Things where kind of off in price so I ended up getting a few dollars of stuff bought. The checkout was slow as molasses. So I worked on loading my "stuff" up while most everyone else checked out.
Went and finally checked out. Well tried to pay. FORGOT my billfold and check book on the kitchen table when I changed out of my chore cloths. I had less then a dollar of loose change in my pocket. LOL No ID of any kind other than the registration for the semi.
Ever try to convince an auctioneer, that you have NEVER met, that your not trying to swindle him, while not having any ID or method of payment???? Lots of fun!!! Even more fun on a Friday afternoon at about 4:30 PM.
My bank was open but none of the officers where still there. Just tellers. Finally got a hold of the bank president and he was able to do a bank transfer to the auctioneer's bank.
It was a good thing I filled the semi up with fuel last night or I might have been walking home. Got pretty hungry on the way home as I had not eat since last night at supper. I was in too big a hurry to leave this morning to stop for breakfast. Wife just told me I could go a "few" days without starving to skin and bones. LOL
I always carry some emergency cash and debit card hid in my pickup. Did not help since it was home in the drive way. I guess I will have to hide some in anything I drive now. Just like my reading glasses. I never carry any just have them on the dash of everything. LOL
