Shifting pattern for my Adams

Got the ol 1946 TD9 AD70-B Adams Motor Grader model 311 w/14' mo-board breathing life again. I jumped in to move it ans the Shifting levers are so sloppy their all over the cab and for the life of me I could not find REVERSE. There are two shifters I assume High/Low range a lot like a 5 and a 4. But neither had reverse. I must of moved them around until the cows came home, and I don't even have cows, and I still couldn't find rewind. Now I got it up in the trees and have to back up. You would have figure as sloppy as they are they would have fell in reverse by now.

Shifting pattern

Best I can remember your outside lever is hard to hit reverse but it is in the middle of the motion pulled back toward you. I cam specifically remember you would hit low instead of reverse about half of the time but pretty sure it is in the middle of the motion as you pull back toward the seat.

Ok Thank you so much
Here is a picture
And
So this is how you say the shifting patterns are and what they look like.
Went out last night and looked at the linkage and what you indicated as the patterns seems the most likely.
I had not tried the High/Low shifter in the 3/4 back position. I was thinking it was only High, Neutral and Low.

?Truck Drivers? Gotta lovem, can't teach em anything, But ya got ta lovem...

I can't seem to upload a picture here fur some reason.

But I found the right hole! The shifting pattering is like this

Main Box (long sifter closest to you) - Regular H pattern;
Neutral is in the middle;
Low - is to you and down;
First - is up to Neutral over to the left a notch and up;
Revere - is down from First to Neutral and down from Neutral;
Second - is up to Neutral over to the left a notch and up;
Direct - is down from second to Neutral and down;

Axillary Box (shorter lever further away from you)
Low - Up
Neutral - Down from Low;
High - Down from Neutral .

Hey it worked!
:lol:
