What’s up guys:
I am working a 1953 golden jubilee ford tractor, I need to replace the oil seal on the power take off shaft, I know I have to drain the rear end and pull the shaft, but how do I pull off the oil seal ? Am I going to have to press it off and press the new on or what.
I would like to have your thoughts on this::::: MANY THANKS AND HAVE A NIGHT

If I remember right you can just clean good at the rear by the pto shaft (power wash)and pull the housing that holds the shaft in,tap out the seal and replace with new one,top off with fluid and your done.I don't remember ever draining one completely to replace a seal.

I thought the jubilee has a 3 part oil system. Tranny/hyd/ rear end. Different oils. Could be wrong. joe

I replaced the seal on my jubilee. Can't remember, but I think you have to press bearing. I ruined my seal because I installed it backwards. The hardest part was removing all the sludge from rear end. It was about 1 inch deep. Second hardest part is cleaning up the surface where seal goes. Mine was worn badly. Had to spin it in lathe to clean it up. As for the pressing, can't remember, but I don't think it was that difficult. I do have a 20 ton press. It somes in handy for that sort of thing.

The boys on the yt's ford site know all your answers, go there.
