The TA truck stop in Madison Wi. is giving free lunches to truckers today for driver appreciation week. Of course I spent about $50,000.00 there for fuel and maintenance over a year.

Kinda like the free hats, shirts and jackets farmers get from the seed companies.

This past year I got 3 hats, one t-shirt and a hooded sweatshirt.

All for free after I placed a $50,000 seed order.

Lots of truckstops years ago used to give free meals with purchases.I remember in the 70's,one of my regular stops was Jubitz in Portland Oregon used to give a free ham and egg breakfast,$1.99 value with 100 gallons of fuel. Also gave you discounts on fuel if you ran their mudflaps for advertising. You got a penney off if you had their flaps on the tractor, and 3 cents off if you had them on the truck and trailer both.Plus they had a pallet of flaps free at at the fuel island.Fuel was 37 cents a gallon back then IIRC.

Used to be a deal where you got a free New Holland hat at a local dealer when you bought 5 gallons of oil of some type during a promotion. I went in and bought 4-5 gallon buckets and the owner would only give me 1 hat. I didn't know any better and took my hat and walked out. Later I learned the trick was to come in once a day for 4 days and get 4 hats that didn't actually cost the owner a dime, but that he would try and save as many as he could so he could sell them later for whatever they went for after the promotion was over, like $8.00 or something.
