Gary,

Hows your corn and beans? I understand you have had good weather. Local corn is being cut for silage. I can't speak for the serious corn growing region of SC to the East of me, but there was a short dry spell during the prime growing season for early planted corn. I Thought it necessary to water my garden corn at that time. It's been rainy since then.

The soybeans I mentioned last year that were planted in old pasture grew well, but there was some dry weather when they needed rain to fill out the pods. This year they are looking better and are more than knee high. No till again, good weed control, some sprouts that need to be dealt with.
Don't know what the yield was last year.

Around here, SW Michigan, crops are looking ragged, both corn and beans. We had a smidgen of rain early this week but not enough to do much.

We could use a rain as well.

We've only had 1/2 inch in the past 24 days. Beans need it worse than the corn.

Corn is still hanging on and looking ok from all the rain earlier.

1.6 inches last Sunday. Parts of Greenville county 39 miles from me had 6-7 inches the same time. Streets flooded. One car washed into a culvert, 2 fatalities. Didn't make the national news that i saw, not that I watch it that much, but the national news was talking about a fatality some where in the North at the same time. I have had difficulty cutting hay, there has been either rain or forecasts of rain that didn't materialize.

Clear forecast through Sunday(I do have hay cut), then 3 days of 30% rain chances.

Drove from Canton Il to Rutledge,Mo last Sat on rt136 then came home on rt2 through se Iowa then rt9 to Canton only bad thing I saw were some beans that had been flooded at Wayland, Mo everything else was really good lots of 10ft plus corn and waist high beans that"s probably why Nov corn is $3.33 at my elevator right now i just hope we can keep it standing now til Nov.
