Hello all,
I thas been several yrs since I was active on here. As I remember there were always knowlegible ppl and helpfull as well. I am getting close to finishing my current deployment to Afghanland and am thinking that I would like to get back into doing some farming. I have basicly all the equipment that I need as I did some farming right after I got off active duty almost 20 yrs ago. I have about decided that the way I personally would like to farm is to go back about 60 yrs and get certified organic. Any suggestions as to streamlining the application process? I have found contracts for certified organic soy beans that are non gmo for an average of about $35-38 a bushell. HOwever I am struck by the prices listed in the few Hierloom Organic web sites such as victory and sustainible. Does anyone have any experiance with heirloom varietis and if so any advice is greatly appreciated.
