Double acting hyd cyclinder/ singleactionremote

My brother wants to borrow my disc. His WD45 has a single action remote. To use my hydraulic ram, I will attach a female coupler to one hose, which will then let that line act as a vent. How do I keep that end open and not get dirt into the open end of the hose. Will a rag wrapped around it be enough?
Thank you
Steve

Since he will be doing a very limited no of acres.I would say the rag thing would be adequet.Just tie/wrap it so it wount fall off.

If you want to get fancy just attach a piece of hose to the port that needs to be vented and put an inline fuel filter on the other end of the hose with the opening facing down to keep the rain out.

Have your brother use his own cylinder on your disk. That prevents cross mixing/contaminating hydraulic fluids, and you don't have to modify your cylinder. Does your disk have a transport link to lock it in the transport position without a cylinder?

What is the pressure on your system, both tractor and cylinder rating? Dought if either is up to that AC pressure as I think they take a 4,000# pressure cylinder with 3,500# system, not sure on pressures but do know the AC is a very high pressure system. The first time a low pressure cylinder wouls be hooked up to an AC you could have a bomb go off and explode killing someone.
