It is trying at times. Sat. we cut a small amount and it has either drizzled, sprinkled or threatened with high humidity since. I finally got it rolled, but it was a pain. It kept plugging up when I'd try to start a roll. Get off, unplug, go again. I'll be glad when we are finished with this hay season.

I have not even cut anything yet here. Too wet, rains every other day. The grass hay is overgrown and seeded out but nothing I can do for now. Next ten days still looks sketchy. Minnesota

Hay can really test my patients as well. When it all goes right, no rain, breakdowns, etc, I think about putting all my small acreage into hay. Then when it all goes wrong, I think it might all be corn the next year:).

After loading 2500 bales over the last two days, I'm in enough pain to say "be careful what you wish for!"

After a late start here in north central MA, we had a good season. At least with regards to drying weather. Yield was down 20-25%, weather was cool, but the humidity was way down and there was constant breeze. This was the earliest I've been done first cutting in a long time, even with a late start. No complaints from this part of the country...

NE - you probably already told me at some point, but what town are you in? Sutton here if it wasn't obvious.

It has been perfect drying weather. As I said in an earlier post, even the small fields I cut with a sickle bar - no conditioning - they were ready to bale late on the second day. Normally I'd need 4 days for that stuff to dry right.

If only it could always be this easy.

JR - We're up in Pepperell, right on the NH border.

And roger that - if it could only always be this easy! I'm down two hay fields this year - gave away one and lost to the other to a cut-flowers operation. Last year I had my picture in the paper on July 4th weekend still trying to catch up, this year I was sitting around the 3rd week in June wishing I had more hay to do!
