How many of you use GPS for field work? The GPS went down in the spraying tractor so I had to move the one out of the planting tractor to replace it. There are lots of things you can do without guidance systems, but spray a 60 foot swath isn't one I like to try. So I have planted all of the beans the good old way - with the markers! I rather enjoyed it but it made me realize a few things:

When the put all of the bells and whistles on a no-till planter they don't necessarily put markers on it that will work in those conditions. I'm betting they don't plan on anyone even using them. Also, I am not sure that some of the kids working as farm hands now days would have it together enough to plant by marker. Not just using them, but thinking far enough ahead to spraying and making that easier while you plant.

Anyone put the extensions on the boxes for a JD 1760?

1 of 3 planters at work has markers. Boss wanted to pull them off, but the guy running it said wait til we find out if the GPS is gonna work right. The markers get used fairly often.
Try spraying with 120 foot booms and no GPS. A self-propelled can be run empty in the time it takes to fill the 1600gal/120ft sprayer, but it takes us 3 times as long to get home, refill the trailer, and get back to the field, then we get to wait on the sprayer.
