Interesting evening.

My wife, my grandson and I were watching a movie tonight( Sat.) and were rudely interrupted by the house shaking violently for a few seconds. Seems that there was a earthquake about 140 miles north of us. It must have been really exciting in the small towns close to the epicenter. They must have shook really hard. My grandson lives about 50 miles from where it occurred and told me that they had a few after shocks. Those we did not feel. I have felt quakes in Los Angeles and Price City Utah but never in SE AZ.

Richard how far are you from Toomstone? We come out to CasaGrande quite often and enjoy your area. Jerry in Tennessee.

i've been in a few, it always sounds like someone or thing is running around upstairs. i'm from the midwest and i'd rather be in an earthquake than a tornado any day. i feel for y'all back east and im just glad i had since enough to move years ago, plus i was sick of snow and ice. but, each to they're own, live and let live and all that jaz, etc...ect... just saying.

That sound you are hearing could be Mexicans making a tunnel going north, just blasting their way.

My wife and I slept through one in Visalia, CA once. About a 4.5.

I guess being from the Midwest, we're tuned in to tornados instead of earthquakes. We didn't know anything about it till we went down for breakfast in the morning and everyone was talking about the earthquake.

I am from the Midwest in west central Illinois and yes we have felt the shaking of earthquakes as well as tornadoes close by. In Nov. 1968 we were on the northern edge of a quake, not bad, but Mom's wheelchair rolled back and forth and the kitchen light swayed back and forth. Father-in-law was in an upstairs bedroom sleeping and he literally had to hang on to stay in bed, so a quake can happen anywhere.

Richard, Magnitude 5.2 near the Arizona / New Mexico border, no injuries or damage reported.

Naw - They don't have to do that now. They get air-conditioned bus rides or even flights, and WE are paying for it (as well as the food and clothes).

Richard, I heard about that one, and checked with people in Phoenix, they did not feel it. Are you East of Tucson?

We live 55 miles East of Tombstone. Our area is not as hot as Casa Grande, or Phoenix, or Tucson. Usually 10* cooler than Phoenix and 5* cooler than Tucson.
