I'm putting the final kibosh on a bathroom I built in a basement.
Did most of the painting today.
So I had the carpet around the outside of bathroom tarped off and was priming the outside walls.
Somehow... I bumped the paint can over and spilled about 3/4 gallon of primer.
Of course it ran off the plastic tarp and about a quart ran onto the carpet before I could stop it.
Aarrghhh!!
I got right after it - scooped up what I could back into the paint can then wadded up the plastic tarp and stuffed it into a plastic bag.
Primer all over my shoes, the carpet, my hands.
I hit the laundry sink and got my hands and boots cleaned off then filled a 5 gallon pail with hot water.
Took a sponge and started saturating the carpet with water, then used my shop vac to suck it up.
About 20 gallons of water later I had it clean.
I need not tell you I was moving Fast!
They told me when I started the job they were going to replace the carpet soon but not immediately.
I kept thinking about what the heck I was gonna tell them as I cleaned it up. And wondering how much $ I was going to have to knock off the
job for messing up.
It looked very good when I left. Carpet was damp but that's all. I'm sure they wont even notice it.
Whew!

Glad it worked out. Reminds me of the time I was plumbing under a sink and I spilled the can of ABS glue on the floor that was finished in black and white PVC tiles.Whereever the glue splashed it melted the PVC. Had to replace about a dozen of them, was lucky to be able to match them up.Found out theres a lot of shades of plain white,

That's not bad. I once spilled a quart of a brown colored oil base trim paint on brand new off white plush carpet. I only had a small amount of mineral spirits on hand, so I headed to the gas tank. Rubbed and gently dabbed it up without to much friction. Got it cleaned up pretty good, wife was still happy anyway. Had a gas smell for a while, but eventually went away.

SWMBO as forbidden me to say "paint" in reference to ME using the stuff inside or applied to the outside of the house.

I don't like to paint. Wife was after me to paint the aluminum siding a few years ago, so I bought a spray painter. Did a good job. Then she wanted the inside of the garage painted. Painted the ceiling first then the walls. It don't take long to cover a big area, and turns out good. She does the inside of the house.

well if you ever get in a bind, you could always hire some help.
