Got a dump truck

Hey all,
I figured i'd give an update since I have posted a couple times recently about my search for a one ton dump.
Last time I posted I was between an 83 dodge fixer-upper and an 84 chevy 350 rack...
Well...I ended up with a '95 chevy 3500 with an 8' mason style body on the back.
The interior is rough...but the motor (454) runs strong and the front end, rear end and tranny are good.
Paid $1800, only needs a windshield.

I was surprised, insurance on a 1 ton dump is slightly cheaper than it was on my 3/4 ton pickup from the same era...in NYS we need commercial ins. on any non-standard pickup body, even if it is for personal use...so that was pleasing...I was nervous that insurancewould put me in the poor house.

Future project is replacing the bed...

anyway, just wanted to give the final update.. Thanks for all the tips and advice.

My dad took the truck to the glass shop today - he lives closer
to the glass shop than I do - pics will come tomorrow...
my dad said "truck looks nice from far away"

Congratulations! Can you pick up a load of 3/4 stone and deliver to my church? got mud. You're not too far right?

that is funny! A friend of mine has a dump truck the same size, lots of people used to borrow it,no more,,,bad enough they borrowed it,tank was pretty near full when left the yard, pretty near empty when returned,,,,,lol

I am keeping it generally quiet among friends and acquaintances as I dont want to spend my life loaning it to others...stuff always comes back broken.
I figure the rougher and more uncomfortable the interior is then the less likely someone will borrow it.

I am just excited because this purchase is going to make many parts of my life a little easier...

Not really funny.
Years ago BIL used to borrow my pick up. When he'd ask, I'd tell him to put gas in it. One time he had it longer than he said it would take. Drove the car to his house to make sure he wasn't having problems with it. He was siphoning gas out of the truck. I asked why he was taking gas out. He said that I told him to put gas in the truck for using it, but I didn't say anything about taking it back out. That was the last time he borrowed my truck. He had the balls to ask once though. I told him it wasn't going to happen.
