Somebody has to hold that sign up to keep truck drivers from going the wrong way. LOL Have you ever been shopping with a wife?

Change that to "when you need a fix". Here in Phx, the drug dealer is often parked around the corner from where the panhandlers are working. As soon as they get enough money, they run to the dealer to get their fix.

They did a big expose' on that on the news here a few months ago. A reporter was out there for about a month getting to know these people. Some of them got in nice cars and went home to the burbs, others gathered on park benches with the booze that they had used the money on.

My friends wife was in grand Rapids in one of those areas. She works for a temp work company that puts people in jobs for other companies. She rolled her window down at a corner and stuck her hand out. The guy grabbed what he thought was money, but it was a card for the company. She said he looked at it, saw what it was and walked away disgusted.

Last week a local panhandler here was robbed on her way to get a Starbucks latte. The alleged robber is a homeless woman.

Ain"t karma great?

When I worked in Houston used to see one guy on the corner frequently. One morning I stopped at the grocery store nearby and he was sitting at a table out front, drinking coffee in a Starbucks cup, eating a couple of doughnuts, and reading the Wall Street Journal.

I don't feel too bad for this one, while I fueling up at the truck stop right there I saw her drive up and get out with her sign and the disabled vet that was there got in her car and drove away.

Ain't it amazing how they can be broke down on the ramp, and yet they somehow saw clean through all the other trucks to see where you parked in the back row from the ramp?

Do the strip clubs still have a shuttle to and from the truck stop there? They always advertised it on the radio, but I never used it.

There are several, but this one is where 30 comes in from the west and hits I65 on the Nw corner, another on the Se corner where 33 leaves I 469.

I noticed that the sign doesn't specify what assistance she is seeking. Is she asking for a husband or advertising her experience toward a daycare job?

the Ft Wayne tv stations followed some of those people around a while back, they were far from homeless or poor. Have also seen someone drive in from out of town in a nice SUV, park at one end of strip mall, get a wheelchair out of the back, and set out by road with disabled vet sign, then a few hours later toss the chair back in the SUV and drive off. If you want to know if they are for real. offer them a job to earn some money first, then see what they say.

I have seriously considered doing this. Take my beagle, put my most raggedy pair of bib overalls on and see how much I could make in a day. Might have to practice my lines a little.

The other day we saw a lady cop directing traffic around a fender bender at the windiest intersection in town. She wasn't a very big gal and it didn't look like she had very many layers on. Temp was -6. I'll bet she was glad to get back in the car when it was over with. Jim

There's a guy around here that holds a "will work for food" sign. Some people just give him money but others have him rake leaves, shovel snow, etc....then pay him very well.
