7° out there and if I'm understanding it correctly, I've got to drain the calcium out of 9 Farmall tractors?

Geeze! :>)

Drain the calcium from the front tires ONLY, and then refill with helium. How else you gonna get the front wheels off the ground when you pick up a bale?

Na leave it in there. What you save over the high price stuff you can buy new rims with the savings. Another thing is I think you are smart enough to check the tires and when you see a leak get it fixed.

Bob

:? Not to mention getting all that cast iron hoisted up onto all them wheels!
Also not to mention that the cast iron is more or less wheel specific, while the liquid ballast fits any shaped tire!
Sorta like the old commercial that said "New Chevron Supreme gasoline fits any shaped gas tank!"

On second thought, think I'll just buy more calcium. :>)

Dang! I gotta do the same thing. Got one that's been in the family since 1949, fluid in the tires the entire time. (Existing tires been on there since early 60's) The way that stuff eats rims in such a quick manner, the (original) rims will be gone by noon if I don't do something fast.

I've seen first hand what beet juice does to ground......no thanks. That be some nasty stuff :>)

Allan

Naw, just drain it from 1 tire on each tractor. You will be at least half right that way

Looks to me you need one of those Anti-Gravity Instant Bale Movers "as seen on TV". Then you wouldn't need to get your tractors out at all till the weather warms up.

Thanks Alan. Always nice to get a good chuckle when it is -25 and I'm needing motivation to go out and do chores. I'm thinking I'd just leave it and go get the job of feeding those critters done.

If you could hide that bale a little that tractor would make a great dragstrip photo with the front wheels in the air.

Nah, wait until it gets cold enough to freeze the stuff, then you've got a reason to put it off. When it thaws out again, the topic will be on page 8 and long since forgotten.

Yeah,

I gotta get on that. Lotsa people bellerin' at me for a tune. In the meantime, have ya gave this one a listen? Nice ol' tune.

Thanks Roy,

Wrist is almost okay, but can't make a barr chord anymore. Makes it a bit 'limiting' so I just concentrate on the triads. :>(

Years ago Dad bought and sold alot of tractors, once in weather like this we got two 4020's in from the south and both of us forgot to check and drain the fluid from the tires. In the south they use plain water and we ended up with 4 very frozen rear tires. The worst part was when we moved the first one and ripped the valves out of both rear tubes. We parked it in the shop next to the woodstove for a week. The other tractor sat till spring thaw when we could drain it.I am not a big fan of calicum but if your rims rusts out after 40 years and you replace it in 40 more years will you care? I sure won't. Most of us have our tractors to use and with use some things wear out, rust out or have to be replaced.Just part of it. I would just quit early today and try to stay warm. Tom

Why drain it? Right now it is -20 out and every tractor here is running with ccl in the tires. If you got the right strength of stuff in there it should be okay I would think.
