I identify with your feeling.

Good thing I live here in SW Ohio as we have 4 seasons to look forward to. Get tired of the season you are in and another one around the corner to look forward to. Like them all, especially Fall. However as I age I look forward to Winter with a little less enthusiasm than the rest.

Another thought: The grass on the other side of the fence is always greener.

I too must tell myself continually NOT to look at people who seem to be better off than I am, but look at people who seem to be worse off.

Allan,

We were plagued by ticks last summer here in Middle Tennessee. I kept telling myself that winter would be good since the bugs would be gone. Now it's winter, I'm freezing to death, and I'm pining for summer to return.

Some people are never satisfied.

I do the same thing, but I think it's cause I never seem to get my summer jobs done by the end of summer, same thing for fall, winter, & spring. I guess I'm always looking forward to another season of not getting things done.

So Allan, is the photo of Winter or Summer. Ha ha.
It is the way we farmers try to over think. Is it GOING to be a dry/hot year or a wet/cold one. I know there will be a trace of snow the first day of 2014. I AM GOOD.

Maybe I'm too pragmatic about it. Sometimes I hate the heat and humidity in the summer. Sometimes I hate the wind and the cold in the winter. But I never sit and think I wish one or the other would get here. I may wish it were cooler or warmer, just for more mild temps. But if we get many more of this sub zero stuff we have been seeing through Dec I may change how I think.

I just wanted to say Happy New Year to you. I hope this year will be better than last year. I Live in Riverside Cal. the winter this year has be warm and no rain plus very little snow in the mountains. I fear this year we might have water limits and my big gardening might have to be smaller than what I do this comeing summer. but happy new year to you all.Brent

bought an old aerial photo from a guy selling on craigslist .he made it into a nice painting choice of season decided by what paint to use . if you think about it the only real differance would have been by the machinery thats out or snow drifts .the pic showed my dad feeding the pigs and the blower set up for silage.

I was in the delivery room at the local hospital a whie back. A young farmer was waiting outside as his wife was having a baby. The Dr. finally came out and the young man jumped up from his seat. He asked the Dr. all excited if he had a boy, the Dr said yes he did have a fine healthy boy. The young man then asked the Dr. if he thought his new son would be a farmer. The Dr. Looked at him for a minute and thought. He said. "You know I think he is going to be a farmer because he is pissing and moaning already.

I was complaining that the temp was down to 40 here in the AZ desert this morning - until I called my nephew in ND and learned that it was -14 degrees there (up from -26 yesterday).
