Family Thing been going on since 1988 here. People drive and fly in. The pipe is how the sugar cane juice is pumped to the kettle.

Thanks for the pictures - really an interesting affair.

How so you get the sap pressed out of the cane? I've seen pictures before of mules walking in circles powering presses, but I don't see anything that I can identify as a press.

Pics 1,2 and 4 are the presses. They are driven by electric motors.

Man, you folks really make a day of it, don't you! A somewhat unique way to have a family get together. Do you have a pig-pickin' at the same time? I love the old airplanes, looks like you have a neat landing strip.

Tom, this is the way my Dad use to make syrup yr. ago. These pic. was made at Henderson Tx. syrup festival. We still have the mill that press the juice out of the cane.

Thanks for those pictures. That's exactly what I've seen pictured before, but with mules turning the screw. I love corn syrup and molasses just plain straight up.

Looks like Sweet Sorghum to me rather than Sugar Cane,two totally different things.
