I am not much use anymore for serious work but I try to help out when I can. So for the last 10 days or so I have been helping unload wagons/trucks and watching the corn dryer run.
JD Seller and his sons are running hard right now with corn harvest. The corn is still running 18-20% moisture.
The tower dryer is all automated but you have to keep an eye on the feed system on the top of the dryer. The humidity from the drying corn will cause condensation in the drop tube coming down from the grain leg. Then the corn bees wings will stick to it and plug the pipe. So I check it every hour or two when it is cold at night.
I also check the moisture and temperate of the corn coming out of the dryer just to make sure that it is working correctly. Some times I have to clean the the dryer's moisture sensor so it will read correctly.
So I am not doing much but just playing on a computer in the control room. I have a cot that I cat nap on. Microwave and frig make it actually a pretty nice job. Just boring when everything is working correctly. LOL Just waiting around for something to break.
I am used to all night work as I worked third shift for 35 years. So what do you fellows think would help breakup the boredom???
TV does not seem to like the dryer running. It gets all fuzzy. I think to many electrical motors and controls for it to work right.
