So what if it is OT, I miss my truck

Two days this week I drove a Mack triaxle dump truck for an old friend who needed help for a few days. It has quite a bit less power than the 2003 International 5900i that I had with 475 Cat. I covered mostly the same ground that I did when I had my truck, but it took so much more shifting. My truck pulled real well down to 1000 but this one was all done at twelve. On hills that I could make with mine dropping just a half a gear, this one I was starting into the hill already down one and had to go down two more to get to the top. This is too much like work!

The neighbor has a freightshaker that I run if she needs help. Same story - big old engine. That old thing will do anything without a downshift. It makes me feel weak when I get in my equipment and I'm finding every way I can to split gears to get it up to 50.

Yep , know the feeling. From when i started back fifty years ago to when i bought my own and making it into what i wanted to the last one i was driving with the 550 Cat with the Pittsburg power box running over the same roads my old Cranked up hopped up Cumming would eat the Cats tail with more weight . Yea the 9400 was a bit more PLUSH and the sleeper was a whole lot better then the one on my old 4300 as you did not have to fall into and fall out of it as that was my only compliant on the 4300 . But she sure would run . Never found another truck that would match her , no v8 cat , mack Detroit or even the KTA sires Cumming . She may not have been a trippel digit truck but close but when you layed into it on the hills the most ya had to do was flick your thumb on the button and stay in the passing lane . She was a real sleeper with only one five inch stack no extra lights and other then the polished alum. buds and her paint job She looked like a LITTLE TRUCK .

It is all in the rearend gears. I can gear a lawn mower to out pull a 600 anything. I can gear the 600 anything to pull a cliff. Just depends on whether you want speed or pull.

There isn't anything like a 700 HP Cummins 18 spd hauling
60k load of cattle !!! This is a pic of my cousins cow truck. I just
got back from a run. My youngest boy is sitting in the
passenger seat too. Loved every minute of it.

Nope, my Binder had it all over this Mack on top too. My binder was governed at 90 and would get there pretty quickly too. This Mack, well I was working at the uphill grades for about two miles before I got to them, and still had problems. My haul was partly on interstate and I never got up to 65.
