J D Seller: Would you have any idea whu this mower eats the mower deck belt? 4-6 hours actual run time and it shreds the belt. Dealer says everything is right, too much hard debris getting in belt grooves. Does this sound correct? Thanks for any help I can get on this mower

a z920 has a number of belt guides on it, but the most important one is on the tention pulley arm(the one the spring hooks to). This guide is (L) shaped and extends under the pulley itself. Your need a 13mm wrench to remove it and dont put it back on till the new belt is tight. During belt install it appears that the belt goes on the outside, but don't be fooled. the belt goes behind, and to do this it must be removed.

I would suggest checking the pulleys to see if one or more are worn badly allowing the belt to flex side to side, the belt should not ride below the rim of a pulley.

I think mrjdman80 has the problem figured out. The belt guides on these mowers are important to be installed/adjusted correctly. If not the belt will hit the guides and not last long. There are like five different guides/places on the deck.
